I got a very strange problem: I got an event on the 14th of december and there is a countdown on my page. And I got another event on the 15th of febuary 2020 and it says this event is over. What am I doing wrong?

Use the latest version of the MEC,
After that please check the time and date in WordPress Settings > General, which should be correct.
For troubleshooting, deactivate all your plugins and let the MEC remain active only, set your theme on default, then reload the page, if the issue was solved, then activate your plugins one by one and your theme, refresh your page and check to see which plugin is causing the issue.
