Upgrade to the new theme structure

Introduction

This document will introduce you to how you can upgrade your website to Deep’s new theme structure.

You had been using the Deep theme on its own till now.

But we have made some new changes to its structure that we will go into below.

From now on, you will need to have both the Deep theme and its plugin, Deep Core Pro, installed.

Please make sure to take care of the following step so that your website does not run into any issues.

Since most of the theme’s main functionalities have been moved over to the Deep Core Pro plugin, it is essential for you to have it installed and use it alongside the Deep theme.

Now that these two are reliant on each other, you will have to install and activate Deep Core Pro to revert your website to its previous visuals and functionality.

You can upgrade your website to the new structure in two ways which we will highlight below.

Important Note:

We strongly suggest you leave this task for sometimes when users won’t be online such as the weekend since it will most likely take a bit.

If you run into any issues throughout the process, make sure to contact our support team and they will help you out as soon as possible.

How It Is Done:

First Method:

In this method, you will download a plugin developed by us that will take care of everything automatically.

All you need to do is download the plugin from your dashboard on our website and install it on the website with Deep on it.

Once the installation is over, a new menu will be added to your WordPress panel. Click on the Upgrade Now button and your website will be upgraded to the new structure.

Before moving on, make sure to navigate to the Plugins list on your WordPress once the upgrade process is over and check whether the Deep Core Pro plugin has been installed and activated on your website.

If Deep Core Pro is not installed on your WordPress, click on Upgrade Now again and make sure it is installed.

If the Deep Core plugin is installed but not activated, make sure to activate it manually so the final step in upgrading your website can be taken.

How long this process takes, depends on your host server.

If you encounter any issues with the plugin at any point, make sure to contact our technical support. We will provide a few tips that will help before starting the process in the following section.

If you are using a cache plugin or a CDN make sure to clear the cache on both of those once this process is over.

Since the plugin deletes your previous theme to install the new one, make sure you have a backup of your website just in case.

Also, keep the old version of the theme ready in case you need to manually install it on your website so that your website is not down for longer than needed.

This is just so you can revert to the older version in case there is a problem with the new version on your website.

Please note that the plugin will not malfunction throughout this process and your website will most likely upgrade to the new structure with ease but if anything does occur it would be due to your host causing a complication for the plugin because of your host settings.

If you use a child theme, you would need to activate it again once this process is over.

Second Method:

You will be upgrading the theme on your own in this method.

    1. Make sure to create a backup of your website.
    2. Download the new theme and Deep Core Pro plugin from your user dashboard on our website.
    3. Remove the current Deep theme from your website.
    4. If you are using a child theme make sure to disable that as well and also create a backup to store on your device.
    5. Install the newly downloaded theme.
    6. Next, install and activate the Deep Core Pro plugin.
    7. If you are using a cache plugin or a CDN make sure to clear the cache on both of those once this process is over.
    8. If you use a child theme, you would need to activate it again once this process is over.

If done correctly, your website will have been upgraded to the new structure.

And again, if you encounter any issues during this process make sure to contact our technical team.
